Wow! Six months! And six more to go. I haven't had a look at July's list yet. I will do that tomorrow and put it up.
It's been another cold, wet, miserable winter's day here in 'sunny' Queensland. I do hope it changes soon.
My son and his family came to visit today. It's so lovely to have them over. I did the 'granny' thing and baked fresh biscuits this morning for morning tea. Hunter (the youngest) is surviving winter so far without any trips to the hospital for asthma so that's a definite improvement for him. The other two boys were in fine form, as only 8 and 6 year olds can be. Fancy having school holidays when it's wet and cold and you can't go out to play and run off that energy. Although it was only drizzling for awhile when they were here, so they did get the opportunity to get out and run about. And of course, there's always the chickens to visit and feed.
I didn't think I was going to have any luck with wings as the birds hadn't been around much today and I couldn't see myself stalking bees or insects in today's weather either. However, it got to about 4:00pm and I still hadn't taken today's photo (admittedly I had been on the couch reading since everyone had left - it's Sunday after all). I eventually ventured outside as the dogs were demanding their afternoon exercise and I took my camera with a telephoto lens in case I saw a bird flying and I also took some photos of my ladies, as a backup if I didn't get anything in flight.
Looking around I noticed a bird in our yard about to take off so I took a few continuous shots of it. Even on full extension of 200mm the bird was really tiny in the frame. This photo has been cropped quite a lot to bring the attention onto the bird which has cut out the sharpness but it was the best of the ones I did manage to take. Tracking a fast moving bird can be tricky! You can just see the streaks of rain drops in the photo as well. I edited it into black and white as there were too many distracting items in the background and I just wanted to highlight the bird and the motion of its wings.
Goodnight all :-)
