The prompt for yesterday, Day 89, was dyed. As we don't have a tradition in our family of dyeing eggs at Easter I needed to look around for other ideas. I did consider tie dying fabric but decided against that as I didn't have any plain, light fabric on hand to use. Another idea that came to me was putting a white flower into a glass of warm water coloured with food dye, and waiting until the flower starts to change colour - all about transpiration and other biological reasonings. Did you know that flamingos are pink because of their food supply? I also came across a really neat idea in google where you add food colouring to a bowl of milk and swirl it around to form patterns. Right, quick trip to the supermarket to get some food colouring (I only have blue at home) and some flowers as I don't have any white flowers. I now have some fresh flowers :-)
My daughter, Juanita was over (for a sleep over) and we had a bit of fun swirling the food dye around in the milk. After perhaps an hour or so the tips of the carnation were showing bits of blue. I took several photos of the very subtle changes over the course of the day.
Yesterday I also had my grandson Hunter over while his parents were out. And a lovely time was had by all. He was picked up just after 5, and then Juanita headed home, before Steve's daughter Zara came over for dinner at 6. Therefore, I didn't get to look at the photos until rather late in the day, and as usual, had trouble deciding. The previous photo on the gallery was one that someone else did of dyeing a flower, so I thought that I would go with the dye in milk as it was different to what was already up in the CY365 gallery. This is the one that I finally uploaded onto the gallery site this morning. I liked that the shape kind of had an egg like feel and thought it appropriate given it is Easter. However, I still think I may have preferred the flower :-)
Enjoy what's left of your day!
