Survived the first leg of our journey, a 13 hr 40 minute flight from Brisbane to Dubai. Even managed to get about 7 hours of broken sleep but feeling good after some food, a shower and relax here. Another 15 minutes before we start the boarding process all over. Then to Frankfurt, pick up our hire car and off to Rothenburg. My plan is to take the daily photo there.
Woo hoo!!! Off to Central Europe this evening via Dubai. Feeling totally excited. I am hoping to keep up with the daily CY365 challenge but that will depend on what we're doing and internet access.
Today's prompt is Sunglasses. I no longer use my sunglasses as I have graduated prescription glasses which have the special coating to respond to the UV. However as I sit here listening to the rain sunglasses aren't really necessary! This was a rather quick photo as we're still in the process of finishing up all those little bits and pieces that need to be done before one goes on holidays. Butterflies: With Wings | On A Flower | Decor
Ok, so this is not a butterfly or any of the other suggestions. It rained overnight and the water drops off the flowers looked so beautiful I had to take some photos of them. Obviously this isn't the 'real' colour; I've used a preset to give it this tone but I like it. Now onto today's prompt - sunglasses. Hopefully I'll be able to upload it today before we leave for the airport. Off to Central Europe for 3 weeks. What photo opportunities! Smiles: Pleasant | Happy | Ear-to-ear
Another belated and quick entry. This is my photo of the day for yesterday. We went around to my son's place and I thought for sure I'd be able to get some smiles. Nothing like a good game of tickles to produce a great smile! Heading off tomorrow and trying to get everything finalised. I have done today's photo but will uupload it in the morning. But for now it's goodnight from me. Stating The Obvious: A sign | A warning | Lacking Subtlety Well those were the suggestions and then the email went on to talk about taking a photograph and recording the change over time. I figured this was an opportunity to do what I've been meaning to do for ages - take some photos of the new garden beds so that we can see what they look like down the track. So that's pretty much what I did. This is the front yard when we moved in about 18 months ago. Since then we've added a front fence and a whole heap of plants with more to go. And now - not quite taken in the same spot, however. This area along the side of the driveway had only rock, dirt and weeds.
Catch Phrases: Words | Sayings | Expressions
Ah another photo taken in a hurry and one that almost didn't get done. I've finished now, but up until a few minutes ago I was still finalising my visual diary. I did consider not doing my daily photo but just couldn't. I think I'd feel guilty if I missed taking a photo a day as that is what I set out to do. As I was contemplating whether or not to do a photo, I remember this little plaque that my mother had given me and thought it fitted the prompt. I thought I could set it up and take a couple of shots really quickly - which I did. A bit ironic that the saying is all about taking the time, when I was rushing around to get it done :-) I will update the painting blog tomorrow and then that will be the end of painting until next semester. Tomorrow's prompt is Stating the Obvious - I wonder what the inspiration email will add to this as I am a bit in the dark as to what this could mean. All will become clearer in the morning when the email arrives I suspect. Night all. In The Kitchen: Cooking | On The Stove | Steam
I had today's photo all worked out. I was going to make some soup as there was a recipe I really wanted to try (sweet potato and peanut soup with garlic, coconut milk, lime and coriander) and then I was going to try and photograph steam. That was the plan. I've been sitting at the end of the kitchen bench working on my visual diary for painting since about 5:15 or so and thought that I should get the soup started - to discover that I didn't have all the ingredients. Of course that meant I had to rethink not only the planned photo, but also dinner. So In the Kitchen is a photo of what is really happening in my kitchen tonight - not a lot of cooking, but the space is being used :-) This is the bench with the laptop open at the GOMA page as I was looking up the 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Arts exhibition which I attended earlier in the year, my diary, notes, paper etc. We have to comment on at least five exhibitions that we've been to so I'm in the process of writing all of that up. It's due Tuesday. Plenty of time! However, it is now 7:40pm. I think I'll call it a night on the diary. Her: A Friend | Family | Someone Special
As my uni semester is rapidly coming to an end with my critique this Tuesday, I find that I'm spending quite a bit of time in front of the easel and other things are getting pushed to the background a bit. That's why the blog has been going up a bit later than normal. At the moment I'm struggling with the nude that I wrote about in the painting blog. (I'll probably update that tomorrow once all my works are finished). Ahhh, how could I go past Bella for today's photo! And she is part of the family. Besides, my mum said she wanted a photo of Bella seeing that I posted a photo of Zimi just recently. Isn't she just gorgeous? She was very patient posing for me, but what she really wanted was for me to stop taking photos and get on with throwing the ball. It was hard to decide which photo to put up but I liked this one because she looks like she's pretty happy. The others are at the bottom of the pet gallery. Enjoy what's left of today and have a wonderful Sunday. I'm off to footy to take photos and then my stepson and his family are over to visit - more photo opportunities :-) Night all! Catchlights: Eyes to the Lights | Bright | Sparkling While I was having morning tea yesterday I noticed these beautiful colours in the sky from a rainbow sitting quite low. I grabbed a couple of photos but they don't really do the colours justice. Shame about the power lines running through the shot. I probably could have used this photo for the prompt as Eyes To The Light, but there was a photo of Hunter I wanted to use where I had managed to capture the catchlights in his eyes. This was taken a couple of weeks ago at Justin's footy game. Technologically savvy at such a young age :-)
May Flowers: Colourful | Geraniums | In Bloom It's surprising but we have some plants which are still flowering. However I didn't expect to see the kangaroo paw flower the other day. I really don't think it's the right time of year. Anyway I thought it was a good subject for the prompt especially as the morning sun was hitting it. I like the tiny raindrops that are still on it after some light overnight showers. Of course I never take photos of just one flower so while out taking other photos I couldn't resist getting a shot of this raindrop hanging off a leaf. I think the starburst from the rain drop catching the sun behind is just gorgeous. Focus could have been a bit sharper I think. There are a couple of new photos at the bottom of the macro page.

ARCHIVE CY365 -2014
This blog started out to be about my first 365 day photography project - one photo each day - through Katrina Kennedy's Capture Your 365 challenge Blogs I followThe more I start looking at blogs the more I find that are interesting. This is not good. I can never remember where I found them. Not to mention how time consuming they can be ...
