To backtrack, I'm up to June 20 with the holiday photos. We decided to catch the local bus up to a small village near us. Actually it's really the base for the ski lifts during winter. From there we planned to walk back to Haute Nendaz via the Bisse Saxon (mainly downhill obviously as an irrigation channel would flow downwards) with a slight detour to see one of the lakes. It was a coldish and overcast day with some drizzle. No problems when one is going for a walk. Once again the scenery from the mountains was spectacular, even with the drizzle and this particular walk was just that little more out of the way, so not too many people, houses, roads, or cars.
We are home! Had a good trip, although long and landed in Brisbane on time at 6:05. By the time we cleared customs, picked up our luggage and found the car we had a little bit of time to fill in before we could pick up the animals. Two very excited dogs just about jumped from their kennel into the back of the car when we got to them. Oliver was a little more constrained about coming home, but he did make sure he came for a cuddle every time we went into his area. To backtrack, I'm up to June 20 with the holiday photos. After we stopped for lunch we decided not to go up to Lac Noir, but rather continue heading on down a different path and have a look at the villages along the way. In particular, there was mention of 'ancient' chalets and barns. We think their translation may have been a little off and meant 'old' rather than 'ancient'. As Steve had the contour map of the area we knew that there was an uphill section. I don't think either of us realised just how steep the uphill was going to be! It was a good workout!
