So, onto liquid. What fun! I tried all sorts of things. Filled jars and vases up with water and drizzled coloured water slowly into it to create interesting swirl patterns. I really wanted to capture splashes, but looking that up on google pretty well made me change my mind. They're all done with either strobe lighting, or proper lighting setups and I didn't have any of that to hand! So I played around with a fast shutter speed and water gushing into one of the dog's stainless steel food bowls and I decided to try and hold the camera and focus and at the same time pour blue coloured water into it to see what effects I could capture. I had the camera set to continuous so it kept taking photos really quickly for as long as I held the shutter down. Some of them even turned out almost ok!
In the afternoon I got a text from my daughter saying that she'd call in on her way back to the city - yes! someone to pour liquid while I took photos. She noted how ironic it was that we've been inundated with rain pretty much constantly for weeks, and the day I have to take photos of liquid it's sunny, and we're out pouring water onto the grass :-) Between my solo efforts and the combined ones I figure I shot way, way over 500 photos - and deleted 99% of them. Ah, the beauty of digital.
Of course one of the difficulties when you take so many photos of different things is that you have to choose one photo to upload on the CY365 gallery. I have no idea whether I chose the best one or not. I'm going to add a section to the gallery that deals with water photos as I had so many and there's all those raindrop photos, and I'll put some of the others that I took up there. But here is yesterday's photo of the day.
