Last week I went to my first ballet class in about 9 years. It was given by Li Cunxin (Mao's Last Dancer). He was the guest teacher for the classes run by Queensland Ballet Company and open to the public. We were in a studio that had a timber floor. The classes were fantastic fun.
I went again this week and thought that I could utilise the timber floor for the prompt. However, we ended up in a different studio which had the proper dance flooring providing a non-slip yet smooth surface. I still grabbed a couple of photos in between classes for the prompt. The teacher did look at me strangely when I grabbed out my DSLR, got down on the floor and started taking some quick shots.
It's really good to be using the body in this way again, but boy does it remind me that I am no longer a fit and flexible 20 year old!
