When I was young I learnt the piano and passed my Grade 4 AMEB examination (an Australian syllabus). As I was getting into higher grades at school and doing many forms of dance, something had to give, and it was the piano.
A couple of years back I decided that I would really like to learn the piano again, but was concerned that my older fingers would struggle with dexterity, but what the heck, I really wanted to be able to play. I bit the bullet, found a teacher and actually passed my Grade 5 exam. Since moving to Brisbane I've continued with classes but have decided that I no longer need the goal of passing an exam in order to sit down and practice; it is now something that I do most days.
