About 18 months ago we moved from Cairns to Brisbane (well the Gold Coast really, but we're on the boundary). We have an acreage here in an area that has a lot of bushland around us and a pony trail on one of our fence lines which is part of my morning walk. It's completely different to where we used to live which was situated in tropical rainforest.
One of the things I enjoy anywhere I live is the wild life. While I was taking photos of the house and the cubby house with the big cadagi tree in the background, and other shots around the yard, I noticed what appeared to be a family of ducks in the back corner of our yard. They are one of the few birds that I haven't taken any photos of. Thankfully Bella and Zimi, my two german shepherds, actually did what they were told - drop and stay - while I put on my telephoto lens to take some photos. These are Australian Wood Ducks and are very common around here, possibly because of all the dams on people's properties. I've seen tradies stop to let these ducks cross the road. Great that people still care.
