I decided to go with pencils for this prompt as I knew I had plenty of different shades of blue amongst the many sets of colouring pencils. I grabbed a handful of pencils out of the grandkids' colouring in container and had a lot of fun arranging the pencil and playing with the depth of field. This one had the sharpest focus and I like the DoF in it, so it is my choice for my daily photo.

Butterflies: With Wings | On A Flower | Decor
Ok, so this is not a butterfly or any of the other suggestions. It rained overnight and the water drops off the flowers looked so beautiful I had to take some photos of them. Obviously this isn't the 'real' colour; I've used a preset to give it this tone but I like it. Now onto today's prompt - sunglasses. Hopefully I'll be able to upload it today before we leave for the airport. Off to Central Europe for 3 weeks. What photo opportunities! May Flowers: Colourful | Geraniums | In Bloom It's surprising but we have some plants which are still flowering. However I didn't expect to see the kangaroo paw flower the other day. I really don't think it's the right time of year. Anyway I thought it was a good subject for the prompt especially as the morning sun was hitting it. I like the tiny raindrops that are still on it after some light overnight showers. Of course I never take photos of just one flower so while out taking other photos I couldn't resist getting a shot of this raindrop hanging off a leaf. I think the starburst from the rain drop catching the sun behind is just gorgeous. Focus could have been a bit sharper I think. There are a couple of new photos at the bottom of the macro page.

Ok, I am not going to do another photo of the pets or another photo of the birds for today's prompt. I actually noticed this spider early this morning just as I went out for my walk with the dogs and had planned on going and getting a photo once I got back. However it wasn't until morning tea time that I remembered. When I went out I noticed that this had been a successful spider and was now eating. Great to be able to get a close up of it! The spider also had caught a few other little bugs in the web, so looks like it was set for a few days. I'm not sure what type of spider it is, I shall have to look that one up. It wasn't very big, but it had a decent sized web. Actually it may be a young female Golden Orb spider looking at the pictures of spiders found around Brisbane, but it isn't very big if it is. I'll keep an eye on it. Crayons: In A Row | Close Up | Colourful
Just a really quick short blog tonight. Quickly took some photos of my conte crayons for this prompt and didn't spend too long trying to decide. Need to play a bit more with the dogs before it's too dark. Night all :-) #eyelove: A list | A Sign | Loves
What do you love? What do you enjoy capturing through your lens? This month the focus is on vision. Today's prompt was about the things that we love photographing and what it would be like if we could no longer see. One of the things I love about macro photography is that it allows me to see things that aren't as visible at normal distance. So, as normal, I went chasing macro shots of flowers. I came across this really small spiderweb and it looked just so perfect in the sunlight that I couldn't not take a photo of it. I only did some minor editing to enhance the colour that was already present. I just love the purple and yellow background Fresh: A Portrait | Fruit | On The Vine
I decided to go with my cherry tomatoes on the vine for today's prompt. Guess I could say they're also fresh. I took photos this afternoon so that I could get some nice light on the tomatoes and used the macro lens to get up nice and close and blur out unwanted details. Hmm, short and sweet! Night all - have a great Sunday. Blooming - more flowers :-) I actually took a few photos early this morning of different flowers that were starting to bloom or just had tiny buds on them. I managed to get some lovely light on some of them. I also did a collage of a magnolia flower opening that I had taken previously for the prompt. As per normal, I have no idea which one to put up on the 365 gallery! I had a lovely time today taking photos of my grandson's very first football game (rugby league). He's playing in the under 6s and they are just so cute and so much fun to watch. Got quite a few action shots that I was pleased with. I'm enjoying playing around with the continuous focus and high speed burst of shots. So to the photo for today. Nope still no idea. I think I'll put some up here and make my decision in the morning. Let me know which one you like :-) I also took a photo of a spider web which I quite like. I was taking photos of the tiny buds when I noticed the spider web, so I focused on it instead. I wouldn't mind uploading it to the gallery ...
I wasn't really sure what to make of today's prompt. This is what we got for the inspiration email: White White is an interesting color. If you've ever been frustrated by white balance, you've discovered the unique property of white light. White light contains all the colors of the rainbow. It plays tricks on us showing our eyes one color and our cameras a different one. White also reflects light, bouncing it onto our subject when needed. It's an ideal way to naturally bring more light into a scene. White also advances. What does that mean? Look at the photo again. (I haven't included the photo but it was a black and white shot of a father and son on a bed reading). Notice which color you see first? Yep. It's the white areas. The brighter the white, the more it advances out of the frame! The black? It recedes. So many ways to use white. Look for a unique way to use white today. As you could imagine I really wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. In the end I decided to do something with black and white photography and took a few shots of different things around the place that I thought would translate into an interesting black and white shot. However, once uploaded and edited I wasn't happy with them. I kept coming back to wanting to do a flower and the only white flower I have are the magnolia trees. Unfortunately all my magnolia blooms are either finished or still a very tight bud. I did consider using an older magnolia photo, but then remembered that I had seen a couple of strawberry flowers this afternoon. They're white, but really quite tiny - probably 1.5cm at best. After taking some photos and editing them I decided that was the way to go for today. So here is my photo of the day for 'white' Off to feed the animals and I think I might make myself a pie for dinner tonight - the weather is cooling down, so a nice hot pie will go down well!
I hope that everyone is in the middle of a wonderful weekend :-) Take care The daily inspiration for today's prompt talked about a taking a photo that was "off centre, not centred, off to the side". I think I would have liked to do something more creative, but didn't really spend a lot of time thinking about it. I was going to try a few different things when I got home from my music lesson, but the Gateway motorway was almost at a standstill and it took me 30 minutes longer than normal to get home, and by then the light was too low to really do anything outside that I had in mind.
This is today's photo. I have placed this flower on a piece of timber Steve cut for me from the pile of logs we have out the back. The flower is not centred and is on the edge of the timber :-) I liked the different textures in this shot and the way the flower and the timber blurs away. I think the darkness of the timber provides a strong background for the brightness of the flower, and I like the contrast between the dark timber as it fades away to whiteness. And with that I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, whatever you're doing. |
ARCHIVE CY365 -2014
This blog started out to be about my first 365 day photography project - one photo each day - through Katrina Kennedy's Capture Your 365 challenge Blogs I followThe more I start looking at blogs the more I find that are interesting. This is not good. I can never remember where I found them. Not to mention how time consuming they can be ...
