Unfortunately there wasn't anyone around today for me to take candid photos, so I've decided to go with a photo from last weekend's get together. The focus in this one isn't the sharpest, but I feel that it captures a spontaneous moment while he was playing and show an obvious enjoyment in what he was doing. It does make me smile.
Candid: Informal | Unposed | Honest Unfortunately there wasn't anyone around today for me to take candid photos, so I've decided to go with a photo from last weekend's get together. The focus in this one isn't the sharpest, but I feel that it captures a spontaneous moment while he was playing and show an obvious enjoyment in what he was doing. It does make me smile. These are some of the photos I did take today. I am keeping up with daily photography, even if it isn't always on topic, although I do aim to stick with the prompt.

I Spy: Looking | Observing | Viewing
My most favourite of all photos are candid shots that are unposed, spontaneous and natural. I love to try and capture the essence of the person in my photography and look forward to any opportunity to have my camera out and be clicking happily away. It's always so much fun to upload the photos onto the computer and see what I've captured. I'm sure the grandkids wouldn't recognise me without a camera around my neck, or more than likely pointing at them. The upside is that they are completely at ease with me taking photos of them and just go about doing what they're doing. This shot is from the ones I took yesterday at our family get-together. I think Hunter was looking at his Saba (grandfather) coming towards him as he waited for him to go upstairs together. I love the intensity of his gaze, and the sense of anticipation in this shot; and I love those curls and gorgeous lips! Well I think it's time for my curl up. Night all! Smiles: Pleasant | Happy | Ear-to-ear
Another belated and quick entry. This is my photo of the day for yesterday. We went around to my son's place and I thought for sure I'd be able to get some smiles. Nothing like a good game of tickles to produce a great smile! Heading off tomorrow and trying to get everything finalised. I have done today's photo but will uupload it in the morning. But for now it's goodnight from me. Black: A Puppy | Darkness | The Colour
I had spent an hour taking photos at Bailey's footy game today, so I decided that I had fulfilled my challenge of taking a photo a day. I've been using AI Servo and the high speed continuous shutter to capture action shots of our grandsons at their footy games and I also try to get other action shots by the other children in the team. I'm getting quite a lot of shots in focus and some passable action shots. I was a bit disappointed to find out that I had cut the heads off the boys in this shot as the Beenleigh player is in mid-air about to go over the try line. The next shot was of him landing but its focus was a bit soft. I decided to make this my photo of the day as I had converted it to black and white, so I had fulfilled the prompt of Black. I uploaded it saying that it was a fun shot and a 'fail' for action. However, a couple of people from the CY365 gallery have commented that they like the shot precisely because the focus is on the feet where the action is. Just goes to show how differently people respond to a photograph. He did get the try and it was a great run all the way there. Freshly Cut Grass: Green | A sign of Spring | Relaxation
Ok, so the photo isn't freshly cut grass and I wasn't going out to mow a yard that didn't really need doing it. However, I would imagine that the field was mowed prior to the game. There is plenty of green though and that is one of the suggestions. And you could call it Sunday relaxation - at least for me as I was taking photos. And as for spring - wrong hemisphere. This is my grandson Justin's third footy game (rugby league, if you aren't in Australia). He is the little one on the ground bringing down the very big boy from the other team. He was the first to catch him and held on for dear life. They did get him down eventually. I just love the expressions on their faces, their intensity and enjoyment and the team work that's happening here. These little ones are so much fun to watch! Happy St Patrick's day everyone! How many of you actually get dressed in green and celebrate the day? It's not an occasion we've ever celebrated, but it's obviously quite big in a lot of places.
I knew when reading through the prompts that we have very little in the way of green clothing or accessories that we could use for the photo for today. So I was at a bit of a loss. Actually a big bit of a loss. About the only thing I had was a necklace with a green glass pendant and I was going to see if I could make that interesting. Seeing that it was a lovely warm, sunny day, Steve, unbeknownst to me invited Justin, Mel and the kids over for a swim. No, none of them was (or is it were?) wearing green. However, Hunter was playing with Mr Happy - who was green!!!! - and Mel suggested using him for my prompt. So Hunter isn't really 'wearing' green, but he's holding green :-) Through the magic of Lightroom I've changed the hue levels and given Hunter a green shirt. It was originally blue. I didn't get as many good shots as I would have liked because I had the wrong lens - I should have changed to the nifty fifty instead of keeping the macro on. There a couple of nice shots in there though. Well this is it for me tonight. Have a great one whatever you're doing and if you're celebrating St Patricks day - have an awesome time :-) Take care ... Right. So I'm a bit late. This should have been up yesterday but I didn't quite get there. Never mind, I'm here now. Yesterday was my grandson's second birthday so I was waiting to get photos from his birthday for the prompt of 'celebrate' - opening presents, blowing out the candles, eating his cake - celebration type things. Unfortunately he wasn't all that well, and not his usual happy, smiley self. Normally when I take photos of the family I just point and shoot, but because I had this blog and the CY365 gallery in the back of my mind I was trying to be more creative. I discovered that it is much easier to be creative when I have a semblance of control! Trying to get a good shot of Hunter opening his presents with two very inquisitive older brothers trying to help (or perhaps it was hinder) in lowish light and manually focussing ,was more difficult than I had anticipated. I also think that I forgot to take my glasses off when I was focussing (I have set the diopter focus for use without glasses). The end result being more blurry photos than what I expected The next difficulty was trying to choose a photo to put on the CY365 page. Did I go for one that was compositionally ok, or did I choose one that had meaning for me? I ended up choosing one that had meaning. This is the photo I ended up putting up. Hunter just looovveeesss Elmo at the moment so he had an Elmo cake. Boy, did his face light up when he saw it and he had a huge smile. Because of his response to the cake I've chosen a photo where the cake is in focus and Hunter is in the background. Here are a few more taken yesterday. Looking at them again I think I should have posted the one of Hunter holding the cake :-) |
ARCHIVE CY365 -2014
This blog started out to be about my first 365 day photography project - one photo each day - through Katrina Kennedy's Capture Your 365 challenge Blogs I followThe more I start looking at blogs the more I find that are interesting. This is not good. I can never remember where I found them. Not to mention how time consuming they can be ...
