This Day | The Present | Today
This prompt from yesterday is part of the Give Thanks For series, as well as being one of the recurrent monthly prompts. Although I didn't actually take this photo today, I did take it with the 'Where I Stand' prompt in mind, knowing that it would come around again, eventually. And also knowing that it would still be representative of my day, where I stand, when it reappeared.
I had taken my iPhone down to the veggie patch to take a photo of my tiny little pumpkin that had just started to send to Steve (who was in Mount Isa at the time), mum and my daughter - I mean who else would be vaguely interested (and I just assumed they would be!). I looked down and noticed all these dry leaves on the ground where I was standing and there was a good shadow there to capture, so I did what most normal people would do - got myself aligned with my shadow so that my legs and feet kind of flowed into my shadow and took a photo. I liked all the different tones of the brown leaves
As far as the Giving Thanks For goes - I am thankful for where I live and the opportunity I have to at least attempt a veggie garden, and to enjoy the produce when it is successful. There have been many veggies I have planted that didn't do well (they either died or didn't produce anything) but I'm learning all the time and will eventually understand the soil here, and what will grow and will survive me.
I've edited this with apps on the phone. I usually use some combination of Snapseed and Distressed FX but I haven't done any other editing in Lightroom. It could be time to source some new editing apps.

Just thought I'd share the 'before' shot. Amazing what a difference post production does.
Hmmmm, I've just realised I've only just recently posted a 'Where I stand' photo - that must have been for October. Guess that's what happens when I don't follow the daily prompts, well, daily! Never mind, this is my November one.
I wouldn't go quite as far as this, but I do understand the feeling and I do check on my pumpkins, rockmelons, tomatoes and eggplants almost every day and it is a great feeling to see something growing . . .
I used to visit and revisit it a dozen times a day, and stand in deep contemplation over my vegetable progeny with a love that nobody could share or conceive of who had never taken part in the process of creation. It was one of the most bewitching sights in the world to observe a hill of beans thrusting aside the soil, or a rose of early peas just peeping forth sufficiently to trace a line of delicate green.
