Ghostly | Mysterious | Creepy
Yep, good fun and a technique I wouldn't mind experimenting with a bit more.
Ghostly | Mysterious | Creepy Yep, definitely going right into the halloween theme with the daily CY365 prompts. This one came with instructions on how to create a ghostly effect. I haven't tried anything like this before and after taking these photos there are a lot of things I would like to try. Steve having a bright blue shirt with white writing on it, didn't really work, so I cloned the writing out. That's something else I haven't done a lot of and I'm not too sure just how to do it, but this attempt worked ok for the theme. I was surprised at just how strongly the keyboard came through on this one, with very little showing of me on the keyboard - just the slightest of shadowing. I used Perfect Effects 8 to get the light flare in post processing. Looking at this again, perhaps I should have taken my glasses off - how many ghosts wear glasses?

View From Above: Look Down | A Meal | ArrangedAfter two pretty full on days in the city it was lovely to be home at a relatively decent hour. As I was pouring a glass of wine I remembered the prompt was from above so this was a quick shot using the iPhone and edited once again in Distressed FX and Snapseed. Minor exposure adjustment was made when I looked at it on the bigger computer screen. Bursting: Fireworks | In Air | ExplodeRightio - no fireworks happening here. I thought about bursting balloons as I would really like to try capture the moment the balloon explodes with water, but you really need someone to help. So when I went into the shops to buy pumpkin to make a roasted pumpkin and apple soup I wanted to try, ( which can be found here) I decided to buy some sparklers as well. I took a variety of shots on different settings and ended up with some interesting effects. There are some great things you can do with sparklers but you really need to have someone holding it. So for me it was a sparkler in a vase, manually focussing and shooting as fast as possible before it burnt out - as well as trying different aperture and speed settings. It's a little blown out in the centre but I quite liked all the starbursts. I've done some post processing in Lightroom to enhance the effect. I think I have two sparklers going for this photo. All American: Red White & Blue | Baseball | Apple PieNot a lot of All American things here and I didn't want to pull out another photo from the holidays for the prompt. I was very tempted to take a photo of our red, white and blue flag but decided against that. Then I was stuck. I was looking around and noticed this little frame that Steve had been given from Ethan for Father's Day last year, with his red and blue hand prints. So I took a photo of that. (Looking at the photo against the white of the page I can see that my white balance is off a bit - might need to work on that!) And that's the blog done for tonight. I hope that you are nice and warm wherever you are. I'm about to go and curl up in a nice warm blanket and watch Waking the Dead - night all!
Staycation: At Home | In Your Home | The Local SceneI decided to run with some photos I took the other weekend at our local pub. We went out with my son and his family for Friday night dinner at the local. Apart from a playground for the kids, a makeup artist comes in every Friday evening and spends the night creating pretty much whatever the children ask for. The children just love it, and line up patiently waiting for their turn. So we have a ghost, a bat and I think a half skeleton ... Holding It: In Your Hands | Secure | EmbraceThis was actually supposed to be the prompt for a self-portrait but I haven't quite gotten to it yet. This photo definitely shows the love and security that Hunter has with his mum. Gotta love those curls! Soul: Eyes | Look Into | At The Eye DoctorThe overall theme for this month is Healthy Eye month and CY365 are partnering with the National Eye Institute for Healthy Vision. I'm struggling to find holiday photos to fit some of these prompts. This photo was taken on the last night of the conference and was a quick snap as I wandered around. I didn't take any photos during the conference as there were already two professional photographers taking heaps of photos - both of whom were closely related to the group. This is just a small section of young people who attended. The young man at the top of the top of the table has had two liver transplantations and is an amazing young person full of vitality. This is also probably one of the few times where you'll find a group of 18+ year olds and no alcohol in sight. Nothing to do with eyes, but boy, is there plenty of soul in these kids! Where I stand: From Above | Words | On A BenchBy this time we were actually home but to date I haven't started back taking my daily photo. I'm still playing catch up and will do a couple of photos a day for the next few days and hopefully start back fresh with the daily photo upload. Perhaps I'll aim to start again at the beginning of July. One of the few self portraits I took and this was taken accidentally while photographing the inside of Air Force One, on display in the Seattle Museum of Flight. This is the plane used by President Kennedy. You can see where I'm standing - this bathroom was pretty fancy for its time. In The Window: Framed | Displayed | Hanging Nope, no windows on my agenda, and the ones I did see while I was out really didn't lend themselves to photography! So a couple of quick shots for the prompt. The first one was arranging some rather old photos of the children that have been on the bench for quite awhile waiting for me to put newer ones in, and then get them up on the walls. And this one is of a rather weathered mobile that I've edited to give it a more interesting look ... this was taken with my iPhone and processed in Lightroom and Perfect Effect 8.
Where You Work: Your Desk | Your Home | Your Office
This is where I've been spending most of my time lately, and was one of the reasons I didn't quite get to Day 92's prompt. That as well as having to head out for my music lesson and then helping Steve with some manuscript reviewing. The day just seemed to disappear. So this is my office workspace. It was really quite difficult to think of how to make this shot more creative, but hey, it is real life. |
