I've been meaning to post this for quite some time - better late than never, as they say. Actually the reason I'm getting to it now is because the ride-on mower has a flat battery. I was about to mow but the mower was flat, so I pushed it to the car to jump start it, only to discover that the jumper leads are in the other car. Ah well, looks like I can do other things today and move mowing to Thursday.
This prompt was about isolating the subject by utilising the empty space around the subject. It helps draw the viewer's eye - a simple but effective technique.
I've used the adjustment brush in Lightroom to darken the areas around the flower which weren't quite black enough. Then just for fun I used the Washed Vintage preset (top photo) and then added the New Direct Positive preset (second photo), plus a few other modifications.
