I'm not sure what happened today, but my daily inspirational email didn't turn up in the wee hours of the morning like it normally does. Usually by the time I check my morning emails, it's sitting in my inbox with alternative suggestions, an example and some ideas. Thankfully there is a monthly list posted otherwise I would have no idea what the prompt was today.
A natural treasure: my first thoughts revolved around nature, the beauty, the importance of nature in our lives. I love the trees and forests (as those who know me would attest) and so my first thought was to photograph a tree. I really wanted to do one of those shots where you look up the tree trunk and into the beauty of the canopy above and after yesterday's beautiful sunset I was hoping to have some gorgeous light to shoot against. No such luck. By afternoon the clouds had come over. I took some shots with my macro looking at the bark of the tree with the background out of focus, then changed to the wide angle lens to try for the up the trunk shots. I was really trying to capture the power, strength and beauty that I find and feel in being surrounded by trees.
I had two photos chosen - one of the bark, and one looking upwards. I sent off emails to my mum and daughter as to their preference and (thankfully) they chose the one I preferred. Thanks guys!
So as I listen to the wind rustling through the trees outside I wish you a good night and a peaceful sleep.
