I knew that the self portrait prompt is on the first of the month, so I took a few photos of myself while I was making some cupcakes yesterday afternoon, in preparation for the prompt. When I checked the actual prompt I discovered that the theme was Step Outside; nothing at all to do with being inside baking patty cakes!
Out with the camera this morning to rectify this. So why not take the opportunity to put on a pretty dress while I'm at it seeing that it had to be a self portrait? The old shorts and t-shirt I was wearing were great for around the yard, but not so for a photo shoot. Out came this soft, pink, floral dress that I've had forever - well, for at least 12 years. The next problem was how was I going to pose and where. As usual, I tried a variety of poses and settings. You know, it's really quite difficult to get a nice, focussed shot when you don't have something to set your focus on before you start. There was a lot of going backwards and forwards to the camera to try and get me in focus. Thank goodness for the 10 second delay button although once I didn't quite get into position and there was a rather blurry shot!
Anyway this ended up being the one I liked best. To get this effect in post production I've hit the clarity slider pretty hard, used one of my all time favourite onOne presets, and then done a heap of tweaking until I got the result I was after. And that's the self-portrait done for another month.
